Hilaturas Mar participates in the new European project RegioGreenTex

Hilaturas Mar team has traveled to Brussels to attend, together with 43 other partners from 11 European regions, the RegioGreenTex initiative to start a three-year project that will change the way we manage textile recycling.

This European project led by EURATEX, has a unique value as it is driven by the needs and challenges presented by SMEs like ours. In the next 3 years, bases will be set for new job creation and redirecting production to Europe, as well as fulfil the objectives of the EU Green Deal to reduce the carbon footprint and the consumption of energy and water.

“In Hilaturas Mar we are proud to be one of the 24 pioneering SMEs in offering innovative solutions to recycle textile waste”.

At this meeting we have had the great opportunity to present our Hilaturas Mar project: revalue recycled carbon fibers mixed with thermofibers such as polypropylene, polyamide, among others; and produce a hybrid yarn to manufacture fabrics that will later be converted into a composite with different resins for industrial applications in sectors such as friction, the electrical industry or aviation.

RegioGreenTex is supported by the European Commission through the Interregional Instrument for Investment in Innovation- I3, and will be coordinated by the European Innovation Council and Executive Agency for SMEs (EISMEA). The project will promote the development of 5 regional ReHubs in some of the most important textile regions in the EU.

"RegioGreenTex will support our companies in this transition towards a new sustainable business model". Dirk Vantyghem, EURATEX Managing Director

As part of European Regional Development Fund (FEDER), interregional innovation projects will be supported in their commercialization and expansion phases, providing the tools to bring projects to the investment level. The goal is focused on strengthening economic cohesion in EU by helping pymes like ours to work with innovation players in other regions.
